Blending 70% Pinot Meunier, 15% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Noir, winemaker Gilles Lancelot achieves “major agreement”("Accord Majeur") between Champagne's most important grapes coming from 40 parcels and vines averaging 50 years of age. With the 2018 base vintage allowed to rest on fermentation lees over the winter and reserve wines from a perpetual reserve started around 2000, the wine starts with plenty of complexity. Five years in bottle after secondary fermentation builds even more and 5 g/l dosage keeps the flavors clear and fresh. A member of the Les Artisans du Champagne, Gilles Lancelot is considered among the best growers in all of Champagne. He hails from a long line of growers; his great grandfather was the Mumms vineyard manager between the wars while also maintaining his own vineyards in Cramant.
