This comes from Rudd's Mt. Veeder estate vineyard, situated between 800-1600 feet in elevation. It has been a long and deliberate journey for the Rudd team to reach this point of offering an Estate Red from this site, which began with the 2016 vintage. Comprised of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon, this debut vintage blend offers a delightful combination of "plush forest boysenberries and a warm cedar spice." The aromatics evolve with each swirl of the glass. On the palate, the full-bodied nature of this mountain wine shines through, filling the palate with generous blackberries, red currant, and a soft sweetness of plum. Secondary notes include dark roasted coffee, pencil shavings, and a firm tannin structure.
