From the Tuscany wine region, Fattoi 2015 is a robust and juicy Brunello Di Montalcino, opulent with layers of earthy violets, black plum, blackberry, smoke, dried tobacco, cedar brush and briny mineral flavors finishing long on the palate. The Sangiovese grapes are sourced from a seven-hectare plot at 330 meters above sea level grown in tufo and Galestro rock. Aged in French and Slavonian oak casks for three years. Food pairings: beef bourguignon, spinach and pepper jack stuffed chicken, toasted ravioli served with Alfredo sauce. Natalie MacLean 93 pts.

93 points - Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, January 2020 The Fattoi 2015 Brunello di Montalcino shows rich and expressive character in this classic vintage. The bouquet offers dark red and purple fruit flavors, all backed by a sanguine accent of rusty nail or beet root that gives the wine a salty or mineral-driven finish. Fruit is sourced from a seven-hectare plot at 330 meters above sea level with tufo clay and Galestro rock. Those schist elements in the soil may account for that sanguine-mineral character you get here. Fermentation is executed in stainless steel, and the wine goes into 45-hectoliter French and Slavonian oak for three years. That rather traditional approach to winemaking gives the wine sharp and focused contours with plenty of rich fruit expression at its core. - Monica Larner
