Bikavér (Bull’s Blood) is the traditional, famous blend of Szekszárd. The name of this blend shrouded in legends, but already in the 19th century, Bikavér was used to indicate a deeply colored, powerful red wine in Szekszárd. Kadarka, the original variety of Szekszárd wine region was once the basis of Bikavér, but following the phylloxera outbreak, the new black varieties and Kékfrankos took on greater importance. Nowadays more than half of the Bikavér has to be Kékfrankos and Kadarka, which provide the special character of this blend wine. There are many family wineries producing unique, exciting Bikavér as the essence of Szekszárd. Bodri Bikavér is distinguished by a deep ruby color, a developing fragrance of stronger-than-medium intensity dominated by black berries, bramble and black currant. It is characterized by bodied, high alcohol content, strong fruit and spice features. Kékfrankos: 55 % Merlot: 21 % Cabernet Franc: 12 % Kadarka: 12 %.
