Carmenère is an ancient Bordeaux variety that arrived in Northeast Italy together with Cabernet Franc in the nineteenth century and was immediately confused with the latter. Confusion that does not concern the winemakers, who have always distinguished this grape, called "Italian Cabernet Franc", as much as the law that has long forbidden its use to make wines that declare its name on the label, but also the cultivation of grapes so denominated. After the first recognition in 2006 for Carmenère Doc Arcole, now also in the DOC Piave area it is possible to produce Carmenère. Intense aroma, the characteristic herbaceous note pleasantly envelops the hints of red fruit and spices. The taste is soft and full-bodied with a properly tannic finish. Due to its characteristics it is a wine for second courses, mainly based on red meat. Find its ideal match during a barbecue or a spit with friends.
