CEP Sauvignon Blanc Hopkins Ranch 2018, Russian River Valley, CA

Winery:  Our Sauvignon Blanc is unique and may be easiest to understand by comparing it to other known Sauvignon Blanc regions. Cep Sauvignon Blanc does not have the fruity sweetness found in New Zealand wines or the melon and gooseberry inflected fatness of most California Sauvignon Blanc. It is also not grassy like a typical Sancerre but there is bright acidity and mineral, citrus and green notes you find in those wines. The nose has more floral and herbal notes featuring buddha’s hand citrus flowers, lemon thyme, and green papaya salad aromas. The wine is direct and powerful as it carries down your tongue. After swallowing, green apple, metallic, and salt brine flavors linger on the tongue and your mouth salivates from the bright acidity. This is a refreshing wine that goes exceptionally well with most cuisine particularly seafood and dishes with green flavors (think salads, spring vegetables, 5 o’clock).
