Antonio Galloni 96 pts. "The 2019 Extra-Brut Blanc de Noirs Mailly-Champagne Grand Cru is another fabulous wine in this range from Bérêche et Fils. This north-facing site handled the intense heat of the year especially well. Chalk, licorice, mint, white pepper, cranberry and dried flowers all run through this potent, driving offering. In 2019, the Mailly-Champagne is very clearly a standout. Impressive, and that is an understatement."
The Champagne Mailly Millésime 2019 is one of the most anticipated novelties from Bérêche et Fils, a single-parcel cuvée that enriches the Domaine’s collection of lieux-dits with a new and fascinating interpretation of the territory. Sourced from a single parcel located in the prestigious Grand Cru of Mailly-Champagne, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, it is made exclusively from Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape variety of this renowned area. The 2019 vintage, warm yet perfectly balanced, yielded grapes of remarkable purity, aromatic depth, and structure. Vinification takes place in fût de chêne (oak barrels), followed by around 36 months of ageing on the lees. The final Extra Brut dosage preserves the utmost transparency and the authentic voice of the terroir. On tasting, Mailly Millésime 2019 opens on the nose with a bouquet of crisp red fruits, subtle spices, dried herbs, and mineral nuances. On the palate, it is intense and taut, yet at the same time silky, with a refined texture and a long, saline and chalky finish, typical of great Pinot Noir. Produced in a limited edition of only 2,175 bottles, Mailly Millésime 2019 marks a new milestone in the Domaine’s pursuit of excellence, confirming Bérêche et Fils’ ability to interpret with both sensitivity and rigor the most authentic nuances of the Champagne terroirs.
