Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The 2011 Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots from Château du Puligny-Montrachet has an engaging bouquet with scents of brioche, minerals, grilled hazelnut and beeswax that are all very well defined and demonstrate good vigor. The palate is vibrant on the entry with lively apricot and passion fruit notes, a keen thread of acidity and admirable focus on the finish. There is certainly good fruit concentration here and it manages to express its terroir with conviction. My only quibble is a lack of persistence after the wine has departed.
