100% Montepulciano. Contesa is located in the town of Collecorvino in the Pescara region of Abruzzo. This is an area where the cool air comes down from the Apennine Mountains from the West and the Adriatic Sea from the East. This creates hot days and cool nights allowing for a longer growing season and riper, fuller more extracted style wine while maintaining structure and balance. This is a rich deep complex vigorous Montepulciano. Medium to full bodied, big, juicy and round. Concentrated aromas of dark plum, fig, ripe blackberry, spicy black currant. Aged for 12 months in large Slovenian Oak barrels. A great accompaniment with roast and braised meats, wild game and cured meats.
