“Each of our wines from Kick On Ranch bears a Latin name. An augur was a Roman official who foretold future peace and prosperity through the fight patterns of birds. When we first visited this vineyard in 2010 in search of Riesling, the ripening grapes hung on the vines without the protection of bird netting. We asked the vineyard manager why, and he said the fruit still had so much acidity “the birds don’t want it.” (We then knew, right away, that we did.)”
