Panza is the second label from Quixote Winery; it’s made from the organic fruit from the Estate, but unlike Quixote wines, it's available outside of the winery. Legendary winemaker Philippe Melka is the winemaker and his style works magic with the Stag's Leap District fruit. Restrained fruit, yet dark and dense with cedar box, underbrush, plums, mulberries, and notes of chocolate from the 100% French barrel aging. Fruity, spicy, soft, and bold.
WE 96 pts. This tightly wound wine offers masses of black fruits strapped in by firm, sandy tannins that will need further time in the bottle to resolve and soften the texture. Black cherries, black currants, dark chocolate, graphite and cedar all chime in on the palate. The wine has the concentration to match the tannins. Best from 2028–2040. — Jim Gordon
