Sourced from a highly reputed, but currently secret, 1er Cru Monopole in Pommard. The name “Pomone” is a proprietary name from the winery (not an official 1er Cru), and refers to the ancient name of the village of Pommard, and its long history of producing wine back to the Roman times. In his search for 1er Cru Pommard in an approachable style and a bit less expensive than his Domaine 1er Crus, Etienne de Montille found a producer who farms Biodynamically and was willing to sell him a few barrels of their wine that comes from a 1er Cru vineyard near the village. The wine is made by a famous winemaker in the Côtes de Nuits (whose name must remain anonymous). Stylistically it is a plush, vibrant and fun-to-drink red Burgundy with good depth of fruit, and soft, well-integrated tannins.
